Date of stay: Saturday 5th September 2009 Number of nights: 1 Number of guests: 12 Cost: £50 Reason for stay: Going to Traxx car show, Silverstone the next day. Wanted a location nearby with average night life so we always stay in Milton Keynes. Prices/booking: The price for room only was £50. The booking system is easy but not very clear. They take your credit card details and send you a confirmation so its easy to assume you have paid for the room there and then like with other hotels such as travelodge etc. Location: The hotel is in an excellent location on the Midsummer Boulevard. This is within very quick walking distance to the main shopping centre. Behind the hotel is a number of restaurants such as Gourmet burger and Nandos. It is also very close to Lloyds and Wetherspoons. Parking: The Jurys inn do not have their own car park but it is very close to parking. Milton Keynes has car parks dotted all over with different coloured zones at different prices. We managed to park very close. If you visit the Jurys website there is a map telling you where you can park. Reception: On arrival we were greeted by a foreign female receptionist who i found to be very rude and to put if bluntly she absolutely stunk of B.O! Not what you want for a higher class hotel. She asked for our credit card so she could charge for the room.. as i said before the booking system wasn't very clear and we stupidly assumed that the room was already paid for! She rudely told us it wasn't and made us feel a bit stupid!! Anyway we paid for the room and were given a key. The reception area is very nice, there are a number of receptionists at the desk and a large lounge area with comfy sofas. There is also a bar leading off of the area. The room: The room was very nice and well equipped. The bed was massive and very comfortable. There was a large desk with a chair, 2 comfortable chairs and a table, a large wardrobe with hangers, Tv with remote and a kettle etc. The bathroom was very nice and clean, with a shower over bath, toilet and sink. Lots of towels and complimentary shower gel etc. provided. Outside of the room was an ice machine which was lovely for drinking in the room. The bar: The bar leading off of reception was very nice, and busy in the evening full of people drinking ready for their night out. The drinks were a little over priced but i guess that's what we expect of a hotel. Check out: This was very easy and was at 6.30am so it was very quick. Problems: Its upsetting to report these problems because the room and facilities were so nice. Firstly we hardly got any sleep.. we also had other friends on other floors who experienced the same. There were revellers coming back at 3am who made so much noise it was almost impossible to sleep. We phoned reception twice but nothing was done. They seemed to be having a party in the hall way! Secondly i left my favourite necklace on the bedside table, we only realised when we arrived at Silverstone. I phone the hotel 3 times that day and the next day and spoke to housekeeping and the manager and nothing was handed in! I know it was my own fault for leaving the necklace behind, and usually i am so careful we have everything but we left at 6am and were still half asleep, it was a genuine mistake. I would like to think the Jurys Inn have staff who would be honest enough to hand something in, but obviously not! I was told there was nothing they could do because we have no proof it was left behind.. not sure how i could have proof to be honest. But never mind.. My overall opinion: The hotel is in a perfect location and it is very clean and comfortable. But maybe take a peg for your nose when arriving at reception and some ear plugs for when the revellers return from their drinking! (oh and don't leave anything behind!)
