59 High Street, Town Centre,I think Café Crema is the nearest you’ll get to a genuine continental café in Bedford. The chairs aren’t particularly comfortable, it used to be incredibly smoky (although that should have improved with the smoking ban), but it’s still my favourite place to hang out and chat with friends. They do real coffee and some cakes and pastries, and have a few lunch options too. It’s one place where I might have a coffee and then stay there chatting for ages and not feel like they’re in a hurry to push you out the door. It just feels a lot more authentic than some of the big chains, and is probably a bit better on price too.
