Asbestos Removal

Asbestos used to be considered a premier product in the construction and building industry. It was so durable, resistant of fire and affordable that it was imported and used in the UK until approximately 1999. It has not been imported or used at all since a complete ban was inserted. The ban was to protect people from further exposure of asbestos, which was shown to cause fatal lung disease and cancers. The disturbance of asbestos causes tiny fibres to be released into the air. Although tiny fibres are invisible to the naked eye, they are extremely sharp. Because they are so sharp, the fibres stick inside lungs and cannot be removed.

Asbestos is now considered a dangerous product which should be removed whenever feasible. You may need to leave asbestos in place if its is deemed safe enough. If the asbestos is embedded in the structure not in danger of falling apart or being destroyed, it can remain. More often than not, though, asbestos needs to be taken away.
